This webinar is going to talk about shock, trauma, and contemporary bioenergetic analysis.

Many psychodynamic psychotherapists are becoming somatically informed in their work through learning somatic trauma regulating techniques. These trauma techniques do not integrate easily into psychodynamic models of therapy. Our contemporary bioenergetic model of therapy is the next training these psychotherapists will need.

Many bioenergetic theories and techniques used in bioenergetic therapy are very useful in working with patients who suffer from shock trauma, however there are other bioenergetic theories and techniques that are not applicable and can create problems when working with the dissociative state of these clients.

In this webinar we’re going to explore what works and what doesn’t work in treating clients who have single incidents and complex developmental trauma. We will explore how shock trauma is held in the body and in the autonomic nervous system. We will explore the dangers of rapid adrenalization of the body, of mistakenly confusing dissociation with repression, of the special type of tracking awareness in the client and the therapist necessary to treat shock trauma, and the importance of an attuned and genuine caring two-person relational model of therapy
