The Tamalpa Experience with DARIA HALPRIN

Tamalpa Experience introduces an approach that enlivens dialogue between body and imagination, life experiences and art making, creativity and healing.

Presented by Tamalpa Institute

Grounded on the Halprin work, the Tamalpa Experience introduces an approach that enlivens dialogue between body and imagination, life experiences and art making, creativity and healing. While on this retreat, you will be introduced to the foundational methods and models of the Tamalpa Life/Art Process.

Through the use of movement, drawing, poetic writing, improvisational performance and ritual, you will tap into art’s symbolic language to encounter and explore current life themes, generating new resources to apply in your personal and professional life.

Drawing from Anna Halprin’s Movement Ritual, Natan Daskal will begin each morning with somatic awareness and movement exercises to awaken and tune the physical body. Throughout the day, you will be guided to explore your personal material through a model that interweaves movement/dance, visual art and poetic narrative, opening doorways of insight, creativity and play.

Daria will introduce Body Part Mapping and the Self Portrait Process, visual and narrative maps that will lead you into the themes, memories and dreams that inform your life. Individual and collective life narratives will provide material to generate encounters and inspire embodied models for change.

Dohee Lee will draw from her practice in Korean Shamanism and performative ritual by utilizing techniques that connect to voice, body, heartbeat and spirit.

Over the course of the week, through group interaction and collaboration, we will form a community for healing art and ritual. The workshop will conclude with a Planetary Peace Dance.

Once you have registered with us, we will confirm your payment and email you a link to the Mt. Madonna website where you can register for housing. Please note that housing costs cover your lodging, meals, and use of the facilities during the retreat. We look forward to seeing you at the Mt. Madonna Center!
