The Embodied Equine Experience: Movement and Touch with Horses

  • 18 Sep 2021
  • 1:00 PM - 4:30 PM
  • Rhinebeck, NY or Cornwall, CT

An In-Person Workshop

September 18, 1-4:30 pm
Cost $120

(venue TBA: Rhinebeck, NY or Cornwall, CT)

Our guide for this journey is the lovely Andalusian gelding Amadeo. Deo has been one of my greatest teachers, and at 26, he continues to offer his wisdom to my students and clients.

This class is for those who would like to experience movement and touch with horses. The practices that we will explore are about finding a listening attunement - a bodily, emotional sensing of ourselves and the horse. It is an empathetic experience of reciprocal resonance and co-regulation. What we will learn is how the feeling, understanding, and expression of the horse can shape the relationship, and that bodily listening to the horse allows our own expressive, improvisational, playful spirit to emerge and flourish.

No prior horse experience is required.

Using guided touch and movement practices, we will:

Use the conscious experience of our moving, breathing bodies to deepen connection with the horse.

Cultivate a practice of listening, softening and opening.

Explore improvisational ways of finding connection with the horse and ourselves.

Expand confidence and ease in your ability to communicate with movement and touch.
