SHORT SUMMARY

Are you curious about ways to use mindfulness with your clients? Do you want more tools for including the body in therapy? Have you heard about Hakomi but haven’t had a chance to try it out? This online workshop is an opportunity to learn a few basic skills of Hakomi, a method that has been utilizing mindfulness and the body for 40 years.

About Hakomi

Hakomi Mindful Somatic Psychotherapy offers an elegant, comprehensive and highly effective approach to human change. Hakomi combines mindfulness, unique and powerful somatic techniques, and a focus on present experience to access and transform deeply held, life-limiting core beliefs. For over thirty years Hakomi has pioneered and integrated the use of mindfulness in the human change process. It is backed by thousands of hours of clinical applications and research into the neurological underpinnings of mindfulness. Psychotherapists can successfully use Hakomi in a wide range of applications including individual, couples and family therapy and group work. The Hakomi Method also offers cutting-edge skills for coaches, health professionals and others who work to support human change and growth.

Course Format

This course consists of two online learning segments. 1.5 hours of self-paced learning that you’ll complete at your own pace in the two weeks prior to our live Zoom class (brief video talks, Hakomi demo session, articles and handouts)

4.5 hours of online instructor-led classroom training via Zoom with plenty of opportunities for hands-on learning, including breakout groups where you can practice new skills in a gentle and safe environment

When Self-paced online learning: November 20-December 4 (You'll have access to our online materials through December 12) Online Zoom class sessions: Saturday, December 5, 10:00-12:30 and 2:00-4:30

Continuing Education

Psychotherapists: Hakomi Institute of California is approved by the California Association of Marriage and Family Therapists to sponsor continuing education for LMFTs, LPCCs, LEPs, and/or LCSWs. Hakomi Institute of California maintains responsibility for this program/course and its content. This course meets the qualifications for 6 hours of continuing education credit for LMFTs, LPCCs, LEPs, and/or LCSWs as required by the California Board of Behavioral Sciences. CE approval agency: CAMFT. Provider number: 82187. We will email CE certificates within 30 days after the course ends.

Presenter Bio

Dominique Lando, LMFT is a Certified Hakomi Therapist and Teacher and a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT 44542). In addition to her private therapy practice, Dominique is a co-founder of Anam Cara in Berkeley, a community-based therapy center. She also serves as an adjunct professor at California Institute for Integral Studies and Sofia University (formerly the Institute of Transpersonal Psychology), and teaches Hakomi Mindful Somatic Psychotherapy at both of those institutions. Dominique draws not only from her training in somatic psychotherapy, Sensorimotor Trauma Therapy, and EMDR but also from her years working in the field of community development as an activist, eco-psychologist and permaculture farmer. She integrates her multicultural background into her approach and places a strong emphasis on group synergy.
