A USABP Spotlight Webinar Series Produced in Association with The NARM Training Institute is Presented by Brad Kammer

  • 2 CEUs Available Live and as a Course.
  • This live event is recorded for encore viewing

Workshop Description

Since 1980, psychology has relied on an understanding of PTSD to help individuals and communities impacted by trauma. Over the past few years, the trauma-informed movement has identified different forms of trauma, including the introduction of a new diagnosis: Complex PTSD. While PTSD focuses on the impact of event and shock traumas, C-PTSD focuses on the impact of unresolved adverse childhood experiences (ACEs) – including, attachment, relational, developmental, cultural and intergenerational trauma.

In this workshop, Somatic Psychotherapist and USABP member Brad Kammer will introduce the C-PTSD diagnosis, highlighting the psychobiological impact of ACEs on self-regulation, self-image and relationships. Brad will help map out the different clinical factors when addressing PTSD and C-PTSD, using the NeuroAffective Relational Model (NARM) as a therapeutic framework for building greater resiliency and supporting post-traumatic growth.

Main Points of Workshop

  • The historical and current trends in the trauma-informed field, including an introduction to Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs) and Complex Trauma (C-PTSD)
  • The distinction between shock trauma (PTSD) and complex trauma (C-PTSD)
  • Differentiating the psychobiology of fear and shame responses
  • The pitfalls of working with all forms of trauma without recognizing the complex developmental themes running in the background
  • Using the NeuroAffective Relational Model to introduce a bottom-up (body-based) and top-down (psychodynamic-based) framework for addressing C-PTSD
  • NARM’s 5 adaptive survival styles and how they affect adult self-regulation, self-image and relationships
  • Basic NARM skills for working with the impact of unresolved ACEs and Complex Trauma
