Somatic Psychotherapy Today (SPT) was founded on the belief in the power of personal collaboration within communities. Grounded in the principle that individual exploration enhances collective understanding, SPT provides a professional platform for meaningful dialogue and interdisciplinary exchange, aiming to present diverse perspectives and methodological approaches.
It offers writers and readers a space to connect, share thoughts, ideas, news, and opinions about important topics in our field of study and practice. SPT aims to advance somatic practices, research, policy, and professional growth by presenting emerging theories, evidence-based methods, and field updates to an international audience of practitioners, scholars, trainees, and the general public.
Accepted articles are published online immediately and then compiled into a comprehensive digital edition twice a year. As an independent global publication, SPT has received support from leading institutions and professionals in somatic psychology training, body-mind practices, and prenatal and perinatal somatics. The United States Association for Body Psychotherapy assumed publication of the magazine in January 2024, continuing the legacy of its founder, Nancy Eichorn.
