Research Committee

Purpose, Projects, and Volunteer Opportunities

The Research Committee’s purpose is to support research education, dissemination, and networking/collaboration among clinicians, academics, and researchers in the field of somatic psychology and body-mind practices.

About Our Volunteers
We are currently inviting volunteers to join us in completing our ongoing projects and to seek funding sources for research-related awards, fellowships, and other opportunities. Our volunteers are a vital part of our community. They contribute their time, energy, and unique skills to support our programs, events, and day-to-day operations. Whether offering hands-on help, behind-the-scenes support, or specialized expertise, our volunteers help expand our reach and deepen our impact. We are grateful for their generosity, dedication, and shared commitment to our mission.

Our Projects
● Working to support our training organizations and academics research objectives
● Promote networking and support of researchers in the field
●Promote research literacy education within training organizations

● Explore fundraising opportunities for research-related awards, fellowships, etc.
● Explore ways in which the European Association of Body Psychotherapy and the United States Association for Body Psychotherapy can further collaborate to          enhance research objectives

Co-Chair
Cynthia Price, PhD MA LMT
Cynthia Price, PhD MA LMT has been involved in the field for 40 years, first in private practice and then as a Research Professor at the University of Washington.  Cynthia developed, studies, and teaches an approach called Mindful Awareness in Body-oriented Therapy (MABT) that is focused on developing interoceptive awareness skills to promote emotion regulation and well-being. She co-created two self-report measures of interoceptive awareness: the Scale of Body Connection (SBC) and the Multidimensional Assessment of Interoceptive Awareness (MAIA).
