Annals of the Institute for Orgonomic Science

The Annals is published annually or on an as-needed basis by the Institute for Orgonomic Science (IOS) which was incorporated in September 1982 as a non-profit organization. The IOS serves as an educational and scientific organization, which conducts regular seminars by orgonomic therapists, scientists, and other professionals for discussion of clinical and scientific matters. This journal has functioned to provide information to the public concerning relevant clinical issues in orgonomic therapy, as well as reports of experimental studies of biogenesis, the Reich blood tests, and of biological and physical effects of the orgone energy accumulator and the medical DOR-buster.

Emotional Armoring

About Emotional Armoring
Orgone is the name that Wilhelm Reich gave to the energy that moves us. Reich believed that where there is emotional repression there is a concomitant protoplasmic contraction in the body. Because this physical tension tends to become chronic with time, binds energy, and constricts the free pulsation of our bodies, it is truly an armor that imprisons us for life.

A book for clinicians and clients to use together that explains key concepts of body psychotherapy.

The Handbook of Body Psychotherapy and Somatic Psychology

This inspiring and encyclopedic book was originally published in German as ‘Handbuch der Körperpsychotherapie’ (Schattauer, 2006) [see left], where it was well reviewed and proved very popular: selling more than 3200 copies and even going into a second printing. It was then decided in 2009-10 to attempt an English-American version, which would also be a 2nd edition (quite a different volume), retaining some of the original articles. This mean translating a number of the German articles into (good) English; updating all the previous English-language articles, that had been translated into German, as well as commissioning about 15 new English-American articles.
